![]() its great to use, but hey it's not supported and my workflow has moved on. I have an old Atari that I used to use with my Akai sampler (fat as drums!!). (Hello to all the windows 7 users out there). They just like to bitch and moan about the software companies and why they should support their pet dinosaur. but hey, that's the nature of many people that use pro audio gear, they admire it, collect it like a trophy but can't actually write a track or make anything with it. People will cry bitch and moan about it after the fact that they were told. I guess this would influence buyer choice as these products are optimised for Apple hardware as a development priority and can be bundled at a reasonable price. Apple is in the gun seat with Logic and FCP in respect of leading the charge in their best interest to native ARM architecture. Companies producing audio software and hardware need to prioritise their support resources to remain commercially viable which is understandable. Rosetta 2 prolongs this cycle surprisingly efficiently. It works till they decide they won't support it after a reasonable take-up cycle. Like Moterolla to intel previously, Apple is migrating to ARM, which is a massive paradigm hardware shift, and as such, all software on the Intel x86 platform works, till it doesn't. plug into host DAW's which support an OS running on a hardware platform with a migration & development path. I have a 2016 i7 MacBook pro and it's great but my mac mini is a beast and I'd love to replace the MacBook pro with an M1 but cannot justify it.Ĭlick to expand. It's really simple to answer your question.ģrd party software Plugins. get off the dying x86 graveyard and invest in the ARM future, it's a quantum leap. I have purchased my DAW software but still, run cracks of various plugs under Rosetta that are rock solid.ĭon't listen to the BS people go on with, especially from windows and AMD Hackintosh junkies. I have 2 thunderbolt hubs and lots of removable SSD's and its a killer for AV content creation. People complain about Studio one but I've done 2 albums and 2 big commercial scores on this rig with an i7 Nuc running Audio gridder and it works beautifully. FCP runs great and Davinci resolve Smokes!!!! I have Native M1 Logic (Stock plugins and Library are fantastic) and Bitwig 4 on it but I'm still waiting for Presonus to get studio One (my main DAW of choice) to run native, however, it runs fantastic under rosetta. I've been running a Mac Mini 16Gig M1 for a year now and its the most trouble-free and reliable machine I've ever owned. Seems to be ok over but still not in 32spl.Gday mate. McDSP AE600 seems to work ok but one thing i noticed, only when McDSP is onscreen, if the mouse pointer doesn’t move, the chains vumeters on the back doesn’t move anymore.Look : Something is acting weird with LP and plug windows when changing views and plugin windows. Try with several plug windows viewsets and touch parameters. I recall a viewset, i touch a plugin parameter, no keyboard shortcut anymore, i need to click anywhere in LP to get shortcuts back. ❗ A kind of bug appeared : I switch my viewsets (Many plugins windows in each viewset) by keyboard shortcuts (1,2,3…) now i need to mouse click inside LP to have my keyboard shortcuts working back at each VS switch. I can see a new small orange icon on the LP GUI plugin window but i can’t see whats written inside ? □ □ □ Maybe make the patch box more clear by naming the SideChain inputs "S/C 1,2." instead of the same name and visual than an Audio card input □ Fix settings buttons and iso buttons in wire view.Fix issue with CPU usage (as discussed in this thread).Crash when selecting midi trigger device in cue list.Windows like cue lists and plugin disappears after switching off full screen.Issue with loss of multicore after changing audio device settings.Crash when loading controller map presets.Focus the search field in the plugin menu on OSX.Freeze when changing settings of chains (I/O Count). This should fix issues with some plugins rendering black, or even crashing. The way that the plugin UI is loaded has changed ![]() Right click on a node and select “Layout outputs” this will arrange all the plugins connected. The wire view has been improved, responding to user’s requests. Plugins added outside a chain will be loaded with the default I/O defined by the creator of the plugin. Plugins that are designed to use multiple busses should now respond correctly to the chains. ![]() You can now add chains with side chain inputs. Therefore, we need to send it out the users as a beta to ensure everything works as expected. This latest release of LiveProfessor has some new features but also include major changes to the core of the program and how plugins are loaded. In ALL cases this is a FALSE ALARM as NONE of the Game Trainers GCW contain known malicious code! More info in the PC Games FAQ!

The European maritime powers recognised a duty to protect their own coasts from pirates, but had an ambivalent attitude to the growth of piracy in West Indian waters. The vessels were usually converted prizes and were similar to the ships of the Barbary Corsairs – fast, shallow-draught, and usually fitted with oars as well as sails. 1660-1725), but they rarely exceeded 2,000 men in some 20 or 30 ships. Numbers varied during ‘the golden age of piracy’ ( c. These pirates, though better known in modern times, never achieved the numbers and importance of the Barbary Corsairs. The Barbary Corsairs operated mainly in the Mediterranean and in the waters of Western Europe, leaving the rest of the world free for individualist pirates, who, by the 1660s, were to be found mainly in the Caribbean, the coastal waters of North America, and later around the Atlantic islands, off the West African coast, and in the Indian Ocean. ![]() This example soon inducedTripoliandTunisto end all acts of hostility against European nations and to restore to liberty their few remaining slaves. But there were still corsairs active as late as the 1820s, and the problem only finally ended with the French conquest ofAlgiersin 1830. Most agreed to pay protection money or tribute, and this reduced the numbers of both corsairs and victims. These countries could choose to fight the corsairs, pay them protection money or take a chance and sail into danger. The ships of the weaker European nations (and, after 1783, of theUnited States), however, remained vulnerable to attack. Documents known as ‘Mediterranean passes’ allowed the ships ofFranceandEnglandto sail unharmed by the corsairs. Cumulative defeats gradually wore them down and, by the 1680s, they felt compelled to sign a series of treaties exempting ships of the victorious European powers from attack. Each of them engaged in several fiercely fought wars against the corsair states from the 1650s onwards.īoth sides lost ships, but the corsairs, now far weaker than their Christian opponents, could less afford to lose ships and men. A political will to spend money was essential.England and France were the main combatants. Few corsairs would dare attack a large convoy.ĭefeating the corsairs still took a long time and was very expensive. By the 1680s, naval ships regularly convoyed merchantmen on the major shipping routes. The other important innovation of the 1650s was the development of convoy to protect merchant ships from pirates. Sixty years after Admiral Mansell, Admiral Herbert was able to write that ‘they find it hard to escape any of our frigates’. Such vessels, usually known as frigates, were ideal for fighting the Barbary Corsairs. The 1650s saw a huge increase in the navies of England,Holland, andFrance, including many small, fast, shallow-draught ships, often propelled by oars as well as sails. Ransom enabled the wealthier captives to get home eventually, but the fate of most poor captives was a lifetime of slavery. Raids ashore fromItaly toIceland garnered large numbers of captives to be enslaved or offered for ransom. ![]() The corsairs continued to take many prizes, both at sea and on land. There were therefore few successes in the first half of the 17 th century. ‘It is almost incredible to relate in how short a time those ships out-sailed the whole fleet out of sight,’ wrote Admiral Mansell after giving chase to Algerian pirates in 1620. Most of their ships were big and clumsy and not really suitable for chasing their much faster Muslim opponents. The navies of the Christian states at this date were relatively small and weak. The fleets of Tunis, Tripoli, and Sallee were much smaller, but still formidable, with fast, well-armed vessels manned by fanatical crews. Algiers alone had over 100 sailing ships and six galleys. Serious attempts to control the Barbary Corsairs began in the 1620s, when they were at their strongest. These Muslim pirates, who attacked Christian shipping and enslaved the captured passengers and crews, were much more dangerous than famous rascals like Blackbeard. The pirates of this period can be divided into two groups, the individualist rovers who are the heroes of our childhoods, and the Barbary Corsairs who operated from bases inAlgiers,Tunis,Tripoli, and Sallee inMorocco. It was not easy and it took about a century, from the 1620s to 1730, to eradicate piracy from the western world (with a short reprise from 1815 to 1830). Piracy and its suppression are much discussed these days, but few writers bother to investigate how piracy was dealt with in the past. With Somali pirates in the news, naval historian Peter Earle takes a timely look at how the Royal Navy dealt with pirates in their 17 th century heyday. |
